Career Planing & Success Resources

Career Services can be defined by its mission which is to “seek to help students and alumni identify, prepare for, and enter into thier dream jobs through career advising and job searching assistance.”

By providing Career Services, Oscarmount complements the quality of its educational curriculum with the tools and skills necessary to enter a career.

As soon as they enter the university, students can receive career-related assistance from the many resources available through the Career Services office.

  • The office is available online 24/7 for students and alumni.
  • Online Career Planning and Success Resources
  • Includes helpful links to a thorough Career Action Plan, tips on networking, resume writing, and job interviewing, etc., to assist students in their career development during their college experience and to gain employment or grad school acceptance upon graduation.

Career Advising
Students who are not sure of how they should use their major or what specific career path they should pursue can take an interest inventory to help identify their primary interests and receive career counseling to help point them in the right direction.
“Career Services provided me with tools to help determine my areas of interest as I was deciding on a major. They also gave me practical advice and were able to answer my specific questions.”

Career Central
Career Services connects students, grads and employers through Career Central, Oscarmount's online job board that provides opportunities for student and alumni job seekers to network with interested employers.
“I have benefited [from Career Central] by being able to correspond with employers all over the world. I have been able to catch a glimpse of many different ministries through my correspondence with them.”

Majors in Business Management
Career Services strives to prepare and connect students with potential employers and organizes events including job fairs and resume and interview workshops. Every year we have a number of returning recruiters, and these recruiters are focused on networking with Oscarmount students. This is an efficient way for students to identify opportunities and secure employment prior to graduation.
After employers consider an individual’s college major, GPA, and experience, they look for the following qualities:
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Teamwork skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Initiative
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Technical skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility
  • Computer skills
  • Detail-oriented focus
Since Oscarmount’s education encourages the development of these important skills and character qualities, employers routinely network with students through Student Center interview offices, major on-campus recruiting events and Oscarmount’s Career Central online job board.
